League Rules

  1. Card Points and Season Cube
    – Card Points System: Each card in the season cube is assigned a point value. This system is designed to balance card power, rarity, and impact, promoting fair play and variety in deck construction.
    – Season Cube: The season cube comprises the cards eligible for play during the current league season. Updates to the cube and any point adjustments will be announced by the Commissioner before the start of each season. The entire contents of the season cube will be made available on the MSCL Official website www.mulligans.win
  2. Deck Construction Rules
    – Points Cap: Each player’s deck must adhere to a points cap, which limits the total value of cards based on their assigned points. This cap is established at the season’s start and be posted on the official MSCL website www.mulligans.win to ensure equitable deck building and strategic diversity.
    – Deck Restrictions: Decks may not exceed the maximum points cap. Players must check that their decks comply with all deck construction rules prior to gameplay.
Prohibited Cards: Certain cards may be restricted or banned for the season. These prohibitions will be listed and updated as necessary in the season cube guide.
  3. Gameplay Structure and Format
    – Match Rules: Each match shall be played according to standard Magic: The Gathering rules. Specific rules on best-of formats, time limits, and sideboarding will be outlined at the season’s commencement.
    – Match Wins and Scoring: Points are awarded for match wins, draws, and losses as determined by the League scoring system. The Commissioner will provide a comprehensive breakdown of scoring guidelines prior to the season.
    – Tiebreakers: In cases of tied match records, tiebreakers such as deck points total, match duration, or strength of schedule may be used to determine rankings.
  4. Trades and Card Acquisition
    – Card Trades: Players may trade cards within the league. All trades must be approved by the Commissioner or a designated Trade Committee to ensure they do not impact competitive integrity. All trades are subject to commissioners validation and can take up to 13 days to be approved.
    – Card Acquisition Rules: New cards can only be added from the designated season cube. Exceptions may be made for newly released cards, which, upon review, could be assigned points and added to the cube mid-season.
    – Free Agent Pool: A pool of cards will be made at the beginning of the season and all point limitations are in effect when adding a free agent card.
  5. League Conduct and Fair Play
    – Sportsmanship: All players are expected to demonstrate good sportsmanship and fair play. Unsportsmanlike conduct, including cheating or disruptive behavior, will be subject to penalties.
    – Rule Violations and Penalties: Any violations, including points cap breaches or the use of unapproved cards, may result in match forfeiture or additional penalties, as determined by the Commissioner.
  6. Seasonal Updates and Amendments
    – Rule Modifications: Rules may be adjusted based on feedback and observed gameplay to enhance balance. Any changes will be communicated clearly before taking effect.
    – Feedback: Players are encouraged to provide constructive feedback on card points and gameplay balance to aid in continuous improvement.
